New footage shows Unyil the macaque is thriving after rescue

News

You recently helped rescue baby Unyil from the cruel dancing monkey trade in Indonesia. Now he’s regaining his strength and growing his confidence.

Little macaque Unyil has come such a long way!

Thanks to you, he’s recovered beautifully in quarantine at our partner sanctuary Jakarta Animal Aid Network, after you helped rescue him from a lifetime of suffering in the dancing monkey trade.

Now, fuelled by loads of his favourite bananas, he’s grown strong enough to be moved into a much bigger enclosure. And the best part? He’s got heaps of new macaque friends to play with!

Take a look at Unyil’s first day in the socialisation enclosure:

Unyil and his friends will spend a few months in their enclosure, learning how to share and take care of each other. Their carers hope that when they’re ready, they can all be released back into the wild as a united group, ready to take on their next adventure together.

Thank you for being there for Unyil and his friends as they begin their journey back to the wild.
