Xamã ’s big day has finally arrived! After two years growing big and strong in his sanctuary home, he's just been released back into the wild.

Our sanctuary partners at Onçafari in Brazil captured his first moments exploring his new rainforest home – take a look as he begins his adventure!

If it wasn’t for kind animal lovers like you, Xamã might never have had the chance to grow up into the brave explorer he is today. He was just a tiny cub when local farmers in Brazil found him all alone, after deliberately lit forest fires separated him from his mum.

But thanks to your support, Xamã was rescued and taken to Onçafari’s sanctuary. With your help, he quickly recovered and had great fun exploring the lush jungle of his rainforest enclosure. He learned how to hunt and protect himself, even making a few friends along the way!

The same devastating fires that orphaned Xamã have left many of the Amazon’s wild animals injured and homeless. But thanks to you, our local partners like Onçafari can jump to their rescue, giving them live-saving medical care and a safe place to recover.
